Utility sells its 75,000th trailer at Glade Spring plant
GLADE SPRING, Va. – Utility Trailer Manufacturing Company’s Glade Spring, Va. manufacturing plant recently celebrated the sale of its 75,000th 4000D-X Composite dry van trailer.
“This is a powerful testament to the character of our Glade Spring employees,” said Craig Bennett, senior vice-president of sales and marketing for Utility. “They have overcome several challenges and have earned the admiration of Utility and the local community.”
Pottle’s Transportation made the purchase, and the milestone was celebrated April 13 with several city and state officials in attendance.
“We were honoured to have the leadership of our community attend this special event,” said Sam Cassell, Utility’s Glade Spring plant manager. “We are also pleased to have Barry Pottle and his family with us to receive the 75,000th trailer. Pottle’s Transportation has been a long-standing customer of Utility and we appreciate their commitment.”
Utility manufactures refrigerated trailers, dry freight vans, flatbeds and Tautliner curtainsided trailers.
The company’s Glade Spring facility was struck by an EF-3 tornado April 28, 2011, and after employees rebuilt the plant, it reopened at full capacity the week of May 9, 2011.
