LOS ANGELES, Calif. –  Special Olympics Nova Scotia announced today that the star of Ice Road Truckers, Alex Debogorski, will be the convoy marshal at this year’s World’s Largest Truck Convoy.

The convoy is a unique day-long event that celebrates the trucking industry’s support of Special Olympics.

“I’m so excited to be getting involved with an organization that does so much for its athletes and an event that brings together a community of athletes, families, friends, colleagues, law enforcement and all the organizations, companies and agencies that make up the trucking industry,” Dobogorski said in a release. “It’s a good time and an even better cause. I want everyone who can to spread the word or give what they can.”

Spokesperson for Special Olympics Nova Scotia, Anne Marie Shannon, said the organization is thrilled to have Dobogorski supporting Special Olympics athletes and that is generosity is commendable.

“This event is about celebrating the partnership between Special Olympics, the Law Enforcement community and the Trucking Industry, but the end result is much more,” she added. “From strangers to friends, we are helping to broaden our fan base and educate people on the what our athletes CAN do, not can’t do.”
