SURREY, B.C. — The May luncheon meeting hosted by the British Columbia Trucking Association will feature a senior economist with the Bank of Canada.

Farid Novin was appointed senior representative (economics) at the Bank of Canada’s Regional Office for B.C. and Yukon in 1999. On May 2, Novin will speak before the luncheon crowd at the Sheraton Guildford Hotel in Surrey to provide a detailed reveiw of the Bank of Canada’s latest Monetary Policy Report, which details the central bank’s current assessment of economic conditions, its outlook for Canadian and global economic developments, and its account of inflation conditions in Canada.

Novin will also discuss during the meeting the economic expansion for Canada, U.S. and the global economy and how these developments will affect the B.C. economy. Through Novin’s position with the Bank of Canada, he directs research and analysis on economic and financial developments in his posted region and is experienced at communicating his message to external audiences.
