“Merrick’s laser focus on customers, innovation, growth and talent make him the ideal person to lead AWTP,” Myers said. “From sales to operations, he has served in nearly every part of the Wheels business, playing an integral role in its success over the years. I look forward to seeing Merrick build on this strong foundation in the years to come.”

Before accepting his new position, Murphy was vice-president and general manager for Alcoa’s Commercial Vehicle Wheel business in the Asia Pacific region. He earlier held the same position in the Americas. In these roles, he oversaw the business unit’s regional operations, sales, distribution and growth agenda, building strong connections with AWTP customers and markets. In his new role, he will be based in Cleveland, Ohio, at AWTP headquarters.

“Nearly 70 years ago, Alcoa Wheel and Transportation Products invented the forged aluminum truck wheel. Today, from the Ultra ONE to the Dura-Bright EVO, our innovation continues to lead the market – and reinvent the wheel,” said Murphy. “I could not be more excited to take the helm of a business I have proudly served for 16 years, and lead it to the next level of success.”
