CALGARY, Alta. – Registration is now open for the 2014 Truck Driving Championships in Edmonton this coming June 21.

Hosted by the Alberta Motor Transport Association, the event will test drivers on their abilities behind the wheel, the knowledge of safety regulations and their capacity to notice safety hazards.

“The championship is a great incentive for professional truck drivers to operate safely, because they must be collision-free for at least one year prior to the competition,” said AMTA president and CEO Richard Warnock. “Many of the competitors have millions of accident-free driving miles to their credit.”

The event begins with a written exam in the morning, followed by a pre-trip inspection test and field course challenge. The event concludes with an awards dinner.

Those who qualify will move onto the National Truck Driving Championships held in Quebec later this year.

The deadline to register is June 18. Please visit www.amta.ca/Events/roadeo.htm for more information.

  • As the MC for the last several years here in Alberta at the Driver Championships, I am always very disappointed at the lack of attendance by the senior management of transport companies. This event showcases the men and women who are the heart of the industry and give these executives their jobs! Support the Truck Roadeo!!
